Valerie Maloof. Writer.
Hi👋 Thanks for stopping by. Here you can read my short fiction that has been published in literary journals that I love.My work focuses on topics that I’m obsessed with: death, feminism, relationships, loneliness and control. I write to give a funny, warm voice to dark and uncomfortable topics. My hope is for the reader to feel safe exploring all parts of themselves. I aim to be messy, imperfect and truthful. I love using the power of female voices to guide my stories.I’m inspired by the works of Miranda July, Saeed Jones, Jessi Klein, Etgar Keret and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.I am a Chicago-based writer originally and proudly from Boston, MA. I hold a BFA from Emerson College in Writing. My fiction has been published in The Drum Literary Magazine, 100 Word Story, Jellyfish Review, Bartleby Snopes, The Bookends Review, The Good Life Review, MicroFiction Mondays & Marathon Literary Review, Arcadia University. In 2025 I will be a resident at Château d'Orquevaux Artists & Writers Residency as a Denis Diderot grant recipient. I am currently working on my first novel.
